One-To-One Program Update

One-To-One Program Update

by Jesse McDermott and Kade Nachtman

The one-to-one program is off to a good start, with brand new MacBook Air’s being assigned to every student for the duration of the school year.  With over 300 laptops throughout the high school, every student has access to a computer throughout the day, allowing them more time for schoolwork.

So far everyone, from teachers to students, appreciate the new convenience that comes with the one-to-one program.  “It is a good program just because the technology is right there in front of you,” said Sue Peterson, a paraeducator in the building.  According to technology coordinator Roger Warne, only two laptops have been damaged so far, which is not too bad considering how many are in use.

There haven’t been too many punishments yet, according to Mrs. McKay.  Only two incidents have happened this year, and one student’s punishment is carrying over from last year.  The punishments can last anywhere from a single class period up to the entire school year.  Mrs. McKay also said, “If a computer is found in the locker room’s it is getting taken away for a week.  A student said theirs was missing and they are not suppose to be in there in the first place.”

Make sure you’ve read all of the rules to avoid losing your laptop privileges.
