Kolton Carey

“Always achieve more than you actually have in mind.” This is a quote that Kolton Carey lives by. He played football his freshman year, baseball 8th through sophomore year, participated in cross country his junior and senior year, and played soccer all four years of high school. Carey said soccer is his favorite sport ,“I turned out to be decent, and it’s just a really fun sport to play.”

He has a family of six. Mark and Missy Carey are his parents, and has three siblings Dawson, Madison and Rayne. His family has a big influence on his life, especially his mom Missy. “She has taught me right from wrong, and to achieve more things than I actually have in mind.” Carey said.

Carey’s favorite memory in high school was beating Harlan 2-1 his sophomore year first round of district play in the final minute of soccer. Harlan beat Atlantic in the regular season by penalty kicks. Instead of just being close to winning, Carey played to win the game, keeping in mind what his mom always told him.

When Carey was little he wanted to be a professional baseball player but over the years he chose a different career. He plans to attend a junior college to further his education in electrical engineering.

Carey said the best part of high school was, “having good friends and being able to laugh.” He would like to remembered as, “the guy who was able to make people smile.”
