Nadia Somers has participated in band, choir, cross country, track and tennis. She said that band was her favorite activity she has participated in, and plans to go to college to become a music educator.

Somers lives with her parents, Guy and Kathy Somers. She also has three sibling: Lex, Mikayla and Justin, plus a pet fish.

While she has spent her life in Atlantic, there are definitely moments that she wishes would’ve never happened, such as cutting her hair short in kindergarten. While she may have made some questionable choices in her younger years, it didn’t stop her from being ambitious. Somers said she wanted to be a zoologist, writer, and lifeguard when she was younger.

However, her aspirations changed as she grew. She now wants to be music educator. “I spun a wheel and it ticked all the way over like wheel of fortune to music educator which is almost as bad as going bankrupt but atleast I get to keep having summer vacation,” Somers said.

In regards to her music career, she is especially thankful for Mr. O’Donell. He helped her realise her “full potential as a musician.” Her realisation also helped her believe she could make All-State. Somers is very hopeful for the future, stating, “Hopefully I’m a music teacher in a decent school. Or maybe in NYC playing in pits. With lots of tea. I like tea.”

While she dreams of a bright future, she also wants to leave a legacy at AHS. Saying she hopes to be remembered “as the person who delivered the Jesus line in the fall play. But maybe not. Probably something more actual, more real. Like nice.” As she moves on, she still won’t be able to forget the most special of memories, such as biking with her sister every summer. But thankfully for her, she will have all the memories and lessons that she has learned from her family that have helped shaped her into the young woman she is today. And she will take these lessons and use them to guide herself through life and achieve the goals she wants.
