Last night, Dec. 6, the boys’ basketball team traveled to Red Oak and defeated the Tigers on their home court. The Trojans advanced their record to 3-0.

In the first minutes of the game the Trojans went on a 10-0 run, ending the quarter leading the Tigers 25-6.

At half, the Trojans were ahead 45-13. Senior Garrett Franken controlled the scoreboard at the half with 12 points. Junior Scott Leonard and sophomore Chase Mullenix both had 10.

In the third, the Trojans had a strong 36 point lead over the Tigers.

By the end of the third, the starting Trojan team was taken out, and celebrated their third victory on the bench for the rest of the game. They were replaced with the starting JV team, and they too dominated the Tigers.

The Trojans defeated the Tigers 67-37.

Leading scorers of the night were Leonard with 17, Franken with 14, Mullenix and junior Austin Alexander with 10.

Head coach Alan Jenkins said, “I feel like we played really well both offensively and defensively. We shot the ball well because we shared it well. We accounted for 17 assists on 28 made shots, those are good numbers to see from a productive offense.”

The Trojans’ next game is a double header this Friday, Dec. 9, at Creston High School against the Panthers.

Jenkins said, “We realize going to Creston will be a tough match-up for us. We need to continue to prepare ourselves for the big picture with each game during the season.”

Tip-off this Friday is at 7:30.
