The Southwest Iowa Honor Band, or SWIBA, auditions were held on Saturday, Dec. 13. Kids from all over Southwest Iowa came to Atlantic High School to take part in the auditions, hoping to clinch a spot in the honor band.

The band department had 15 students audition. There are two different honor bands that students can try out for. There is an honor band for the ninth and tenth graders, and one for the eleventh and twelfth graders. Students selected for the 9-10 band were as follows: freshman Rebekah Hallman, sophomore Katie Darrow, sophomore Nadia Somers, and freshman Josh McLean (9). Those selected for the 11-12 band were as follows: senior Ben Parker, junior Emily Yager, senior Justin Somers, junior Seth Schulte, and junior Corgan Petersen (11).

The students will perform a concert at Atlantic High School on Jan. 19 with the other selected students from around Southwest Iowa.  Congratulations to all of those who were selected.
