How do you feel about Atlantic High School? It has many different varieties of learning: math, English, art, drama, and much more. Atlantic High School was built in 1996, after moving from the current middle school.  Since the first quarter is almost over, students in each grade shared their opinions on how they feel about AHS.

Freshman Alison Bodine stated that she enjoys Atlantic High School because she gets to meet a lot more new people. Bodine’s favorite activities she’s participated in since entering high school are “dressing up and attending the football games.” She also enjoys track and soccer, and is currently the cheer manager. Bodine said that upperclassmen are treated better by teachers because the freshmen aren’t known enough. She also feels that seniors often “pass the buck to the lower classmen.” Bodine’s favorite teacher is Ms. Weiderman, and her favorite subject is art. Her senior prank dream is to spray pam all over the halls to watch the new freshmen of her year fall/slip.

Sophomore Kaylee Pappal said, “Yes, well I am not a freshmen, and I don’t have as much responsibility as a upperclassmen.” Pappal also mentioned that she has a passion for art. She likes to draw bone figures and mythical creatures. Pappal is also one of the first students at Atlantic High School to say she really likes the lunches. Her favorite teacher was Ms. Huggins because she “taught with enthusiasm.” Pappal’s senior prank dream is to let spiders and snakes loose in the school.

Junior Codi Hitch said she likes Atlantic High School because attending high school shows that she is turning into a matured adult. Hitch also said Ms. Weiderman is her favorite teacher, but her favorite class is band. Her favorite part about the school is watching Iron Man Volleyball during TWIRP week. Hitch’s goal before high school ends is to make it to state tennis, and her dream for a senior prank is “filling all of the teachers desk drawers with whipped cream.”

Kerran McFaddin likes Atlantic High School because he “thinks it’s a good school and the teachers are good.” McFaddin is involved in soccer and football. His favorite memory at Atlantic High School was when Atlantic played Harlan and tied the game to 4-4 on junior varsity. McFaddin thinks that “there are good teachers in this school,” and said Mr. Hinzman is his favorite teacher and any class of his is McFaddin’s favorite. He said, “I want to have lots of fun and to beat Harlan in soccer.” McFaddin’s senior prank dream is to duct tape all of the doors shut.
