On Tuesday the Trojan cross country team competed in the annual Creston Panther Invitational. There were positives for both boys and girls, JV and varsity.

Some positives for the girls was having the first place finisher in the varsity and junior varsity race. Junior Tiffany Williams finished the race 0:08 seconds before anyone else, taking home the gold with a time of 15:54. Williams shaved 0:58 seconds off of her time from the year before. Senior Justice Parker beat the rest of her competition by at least 0:36 seconds to take home the gold medal in the JV race. Parker improved her time from the year before by a minute and 11 seconds.

The girls varsity had 4 runners in the top 30, giving them enough points to get 3rd, with Winterset in first and Creston in second.

The boys varsity team didn’t have any first place finishers, but had 3 runners in the top 30, giving them a 7th place finish. The JV boys finished second behind Shenandoah, with 7 runners in the top 30, beating the 3rd place team by over 20 points. Freshman Kole Schmitt (9th), junior William Weppler (10th), sophomore Eric Weiser (14th), freshman Gratt Reed (17th), sophomore Camden McFadden (18th), freshman Tanner Steffens (25th), and freshman Scott Leonard (30th) finished in the top 30.

The Trojans had 17 runners beating their times from previous years ,which is a majority of the runners who ran at this same meet the year before.
