R.I.P. Chocolate Chip Muffins

R.I.P. Chocolate Chip Muffins

Lileigh Brown rushed to school to get her most memorable breakfast from the school, only to find out her mouth-watering chocolate chip muffins were not available.  The question everyone has is, “What happened to them?”

Since the 2014 school year has started, students have not seen or heard of the chocolate chip muffins returning to the kitchen this year for breakfast.  Senior Robby Bodine said, “That was the only thing I ate for breakfast!”

Head cook Angela Behrens said, “We can’t have them because they don’t qualify for the school nutrition program.  They have too many calories and a high percentage of fat.”  Whether or not considerations have been made to retrieve the muffins, Behrens said, “The government says what we can and can’t have, so we cannot bring them back.”  She says it has probably affected breakfast profits.  “Hopefully in October we will get a coffee bar in the muffin’s place.”

Freshman Bailey Steffens said she eats nothing for breakfast since the chocolate chip muffins are gone.

How does it affect breakfast at our school now?  Junior Meghan Reilly answered this question saying, “A lot of kids miss them, and fewer kids are eating breakfast at school.”

So it looks like the chocolate chip muffins are gone forever as a breakfast option at AHS.  They will be missed by many regular breakfast eaters here at AHS.
