The advanced chemistry class is finishing their magic shows up in the last weeks of school. The final two shows will be on the May 10 and 15. The last shows will be presented by only junior students because of senior graduation.
Nancy Jenkins, the advanced chemistry teacher, said that the first few shows have gone well and hopes that the rest will too. The third-graders who come to watch the show are amazed by the experiments performed by the class. Some of their favorite tricks include the woosh bottle, hungry dragon, and non-burning dollar. All of these tricks include fire in some way. Junior Nick Olsen said, “Everyone has at least one experiment that the kids enjoy.”
Students try to get the third-graders involved by asking them to help with certain experiments. The line rocket performed by Harrison Hoegh and Byrce Wernimont includes a countdown by kids, and the silver bottle trick by Tyler Fischer has kids pass around the bottle.
“I enjoy the kids’ interaction and reactions of the tricks,” said junior Tyler Fischer.
The students in Missy Goergen’s class described the show as awesome.
