Boys’ tennis sweeps Kuemper; girls suffer tough loss in first competition

The Atlantic boys’ tennis team picked up a 9-0 victory over the Kuemper Knights in the first tennis meet of the season Tuesday, April 3.

With a new lineup, coach Shawn Petersen was pleased with his team’s performance. Petersen also noted that the boys’ will have to perform even better on the road against Creston, to pull out the win on Thursday night.

With the departure of every varsity starter from a season ago, the Trojann tennis team suffered the a crushing 8-1 loss on the road at Kuemper.

Coach Petersen said that he is confident that the girls’ will continue to improve as the season goes on, considering that none of the girls’ have had any varsity experience before Tuesday night.

The Trojanns host the Creston Panthers on Thursday night.
