    Football Players Season Thoughts

    By Paul Honke

All good things must come to an end. In this case the Trojan football season is over and is the last year for many athletes.

The Atlantic High School football season has ended after defeat in the first round of playoffs against Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley High School. The Atlantic Trojans ended on a 4-6 record, a big improvement from last year’s 2-7 record.

Last Tuesday the athletes turned in their equipment after school; for the seniors it will be the last time they turn in their high school football gear. When the season ended, many seniors were emotional.

Several players have given their thoughts on the season, and what they hope for next year.

“I thought this season was a very successful one,” said senior Rob Nichols. “We were so close to being the best. Although our record didn’t show it, we made leaps and bounds forward as a team. I will always remember this season and my teammates.”

“I thought it brought everyone closer,” said senior Tyler Hovey.” We competed in every game and had a chance to win them all. I will remember everyone on the team and this season for the rest of my life.”

“I thought this season was a vast improvement than the past,” said senior Derek Stork. “We showed toughness, resiliency, and heart. I will always remember this team and am proud I was a part of it.”

“Well, I thought this season went pretty well,” said junior Kray Lukeheart. “I think we lost too many winnable games. Next year I hope for the team to have a better record and make it farther in the playoffs.”

“I think this season went very good,” said sophomore Jacob Johnson. “I think we got better as the season went on.”
