As we kick off the 2025 Homecoming celebration, the student body anticipates the outcome of the dodgeball games.
For the third year in a row, the class of 2026 dominated the annual Homecoming Dodgeball Tournament, defeating the competition with teamwork, proper sportsmanship, and unparalleled intensity. With last year’s win, they’ve officially earned the title of three-time champions — and now, all eyes are on their senior year, where a potential fourth consecutive win would secure their legacy here at AHS.
This year, the girls participating in the tournament on Tuesday are ready to showcase their best dodgeball skills. Senior dodgeball player, Lila Wiederstein, is confident that they will “back each other up,” and can complete the task and become four-time dodgeball tournament champions. However, one team in particular that they are anxious about is the class of 2029.
The seniors’ previous record is phenomenal.
Bringing school spirit with themes that make every class turn their heads. Anywhere from neon to black out, each year they match their confidence with their style. Senior dodgeball player Claire Schroder said that this year, they cannot divulge their theme. They wish to keep it top secret as they want people to anticipate what they will wear. The seniors line up this year, consisting of 10 girls who will play, three alternate girls, and nine male coaches.
If the seniors win, not only will they secure bragging rights as “four-peat champs,” they will receive a trophy with their name in the school for years to come. No class in school history has ever won the dodgeball tournament four times. The class of 2026 is now just one victory away from pulling off what many thought was impossible.
