Welcome back to school, AHS. We are delighted to see all your bright and smiling faces. We are looking forward to seeing what everyone accomplishes this year, and we are excited to be back and writing stories for you to read.
We have so many journalists helping us out this year. Olivia Jensen and Makenna Schroeder are the lead editors for our newspaper this year, and we have many staff writers as well, including Jacquie Fruend, Erik Ramirez, Knox McCalla, Integra Christensen, Lily Willrich, Jersey Green, and Sophie Johnson. Throughout the year, our numbers will grow as we have many amazing writers joining our team from the Intro to Journalism class.
With school starting up, so are sports. Have some school spirit by showing up to our athletic events. There are football games each week, a few volleyball games a week, tennis meets and tournaments, as well as cross-country meets. We would like for each and every one of you to show up and support our athletes. Check out the AHS Gameday account on Instagram for all of your game day needs, as well as the AHS Fuel Instagram page for all of the student section themes for volleyball and football games.
If you are interested in sports, come to the football game and cheer on the band during their halftime performance. The songs are different for each of their home football games. The band is also trying something new this year; they are heading down to Denison and playing with their marching band for the halftime performance.
If that doesn’t pique your interest, you can check out the fall musical and audition. Auditions are being held on Sept 2 and 3. If you don’t want to be on stage, you can come and enjoy the performance later this fall and cheer on our performers.
We are so excited to see what this year brings, and we cannot wait to see you all each and every day.
