Prom is the last hoorah for the Juniors and Seniors of AHS. It’s a time when you can have fun with friends and hang out with people you don’t normally talk to as well. This year’s theme, as voted on by the junior class, is “The Great Gatsby.” Prom takes place on April 26, 2025, with a night full of fun activities, such as pictures, food, dancing, casino night, and many other fun activities after prom, and they end the night with breakfast. Some of last year’s attendees gave their advice on how to make prom the best night possible.
Danielle Bennett is going to the prom with Sam Brosam. She said, “Eat whatever you want.” Last year, she said girls were worried that they would look bloated, so they tried not to eat as much, but she said that she wished she had eaten more because the food was “really good.” Bennett started planning for prom around January, when she picked out her dress, and started making appointments for hair, makeup, and nails. She picked out her flowers for her corsage and his boutonniere in early April, but started getting ideas a little before then. She hopes that “it will be good this year,” but she said she’s “sad there’s no hypnotist.”
Conner Johnson is attending prom with his girlfriend, Mariah Hadley. Johnson said his “number one piece of advice is to try new things and make new friends.” He said to get the full experience, you should hang out and talk to as many people as you can, even if you wouldn’t normally talk to them. He said that he ordered and paid for the flowers, but he will “just go with the flow” for whatever Hadley wants to do. They are taking a convertible BMW which they both agreed upon. He did have a say in what he wanted for a suit; he picked it out, and his mom came later to help pay for it. He said he hopes “prom will be lit like last year,” and he hopes the music will be good to dance to.
Eleanor Meyer is going to prom with her friends Aunika Darrow, Nevaeh Fewson, and her sister Annabelle Meyer. Her advice is to “get ready early because the day goes by super fast.” Before prom, she is going to get her nails, hair, and makeup done. Meyer got her dress in January and is super excited to get dressed up and have a good time with friends. She said that she thinks “it’s going to suck,” but hopes that she will still have fun.
Luke Irlmeier is going with Sophie Johnson, he said the best thing you can do is try to plan you grand march intros as soon as possible, “do it sooner rather than later.” He said that him and Johnson have communicated well about arrival times. He said that he will pay for the flowers, and is going to “pick them up for her.” When he went to get a suit he had help from his “mom and the other employees working there.” He said he hopes there is “good music and good food.”
Kaydee Pedersen is going with her boyfriend Garret Van Horn. Her biggest piece of advice is, “Make sure you have a plan for how you’re going to change going from bluebird to the high school as 30 minutes is not a long time at all!” She said she doing press on nails because shes, “not a big nail person.” Her cousin is doing her hair and she doing her own make up. She said you should start planning atleast 3 months in advance so you aren’t “stressing out” at the last minute. She said she doesn’t have super high expectations for because “they aren’t having a hypnotist or comedian.” Which was her favorite part about prom last year.
