Wearing earrings has been popular since the late 1500s, around the English Renaissance. Earring styles have also evolved a lot since then, and there are many different types. Some styles and types of earrings are studs, hoops, chains, and dangles. Wearing earrings has recently become something a bit different, and it has become very common to have a lot of earrings; this is also known as an earring stack. 

Earring stacks can consist of 2 or more earing piercings on one ear. Having 3 or more piercings on one ear or side is a bit more popular. Piercing placement also matters more than you think. There are even different names for each piercing you have, some commos are; the lobe, helix, and flat, and some more unique placements are tragus, conch, and constellation/upper lobe. Placement also matters greatly when getting a piercing done, because different placements will have various levels of pain but it can also be unique for everyone. One placement might be more painful for one person than it is for another person. 

Piercing your ear is something you can get very creative with and have a lot of freedom in choosing what you want. It has not always been that way, so as trends change over time there have become many different and personable styles and ways you can decorate your ear with earrings. Styles can differ depending on the person, but that is what makes it fun and so personal. Earrings are a way to add some flash to your outfit and can be a great accessory.
