Monday, December 9, marks the start of the very first Yearbook Week at Atlantic High School. Throughout the week, students will have opportunities to celebrate the year so far, see their pictures as they appear in the yearbook, and get chances to win gift cards for different Atlantic businesses.
Yearbook Week is the journalism department’s way of celebrating students for their passion and outgoing natures. It’s also a chance for students to buy their 2024-2025 yearbook before the price increases $70 on December 14. To secure the price, you can scan a QR code in the announcements, linking you to the Jostens yearbook website.
All week, recent and past yearbooks will be on display in the library, free for students to view. On Tuesday, the Trojan mascot will walk around during the two lunch periods; take a photo with the mascot and send it to AHSNeedle on Instagram or through an email for a chance to win free gift cards, the winners of which will be drawn during Thursday announcements. On Wednesday, journalists will pass out stickers and candy before and after school. Finally, the yearbook’s theme and cover will be revealed on Friday.
Senior Isabelle Symonds came up with the idea for Yearbook Week during her time at the Media Now Journalism camp. She said, “I’m really hoping all of this promotion increases our yearbook sales, that students will interact with journalism more, and that it’ll be a lot of fun.”
