Bennett Whetstone, Broadcasting Lead Editor
Bennett Whetstone is an AHS senior and award-winning journalist. Whetstone has taken part in journalism for three years. As lead broadcast producer, he specializes in editing weekly videos and “maintaining order” or keeping “everyone on the same page.” Whetstone's favorite part of journalism is taping the comedic parts of the Eye of the Needle around the school or doing Halloween or Christmas specials. Whetstone enjoys the freedom and autonomy of a student driven class. “The group of people I work with, is an awesome group” Whetstone said, “and gives me something to look forward to each day.” He is also a part of the Quill and Scroll journalism honor society.
Other activities Whetstone is involved in are running track and cross-country, National Honor Society, and AHS Fuel.
Outside of school, Whetstone plays guitar and creates music. He has been playing guitar for seven years and is self taught. Whetstone is looking forward to finishing up his high school career on a “good note” and having fun.

Nick Bennett, Broadcasting
Nick Bennett, age 17, joined Journalism at the beginning of this year. He had been wanting to join for a little while but his schedule had just been so full. “It was something I’d wished I’d always done, then senior year came around,” Bennett said. Bennett has been “heavily involved” in a broadcasting video his sophomore year. It was a video regarding “How to get a Winter Formal date.” Bennett’s favorite piece he has done was “Eye of the Needle 9/18/23.” He had some individuals come in and blindly try three Coca Cola beverages but all in different containers: one in a glass bottle, one in a plastic bottle, and one in a can. Bennett has no awards for journalism so far, but he has been a national qualifier in speech and debate, a two year football letter winner, and also a three year tennis letter winner. Bennet is also involved in AHS Fuel, the school’s spirit club.
