Phone Policy Promotes less than Positive Conditions for Pupils

This political cartoon depicts the irony of the new cell phone policy.

The new phone policy, though a somewhat needed procedure, is infantilizing in its delivery at times. It makes it seem as though we are small children who can’t control themselves. As if we are so immature and out of control that just having a phone in your pocket is enough to have it taken by a teacher all day, call the parents, and/or get a detention. Some of us are months away from adulthood and we are still treated as wild children by our educators. All while they, in the same breath, will be on their phone all the same. Not only is it not fair, but it’s chastising and unwarranted for those who had done nothing wrong.
