The Trojan wrestling season is about to start! The boys wrestling team last season had 28 male wrestlers and 4 managers. The girls team only had 5 girls on the team and no managers. Last season the team finished with a 16-6 dual record. Senior Kadin Stutzman obtained 100 wins last season.

Junior Jarrett Armstrong has been in wrestling for 12 years. He said, “It’s better to perfect the simple moves than to learn the advanced moves.” Armstrong added,  “Wrestling is hard, but wrestling teaches you how to be a better person. It helps you rely on yourself, not others, to be responsible for yourself, to never give up, and always do your best.”

Junior Brendan Casey has been in wrestling for 12 years. Casey’s advice to new wrestlers is, “what you put in is what you get out of wrestling. If you put in the effort and the work you will get better. It’s also ok to lose, all you should want and coaches want is your best effort.”

Covid-19 put a big impact on the AHS wrestlers last year, having people quarantined, and having to mask up. This year with new wrestlers, no masks, no quarantining, the team is ready to wrestle. Ladies and gentlemen who are interested in wrestling are encouraged to attend the Trojan wrestling pre-season meeting on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 3:30 PM in the wrestling room.
