Boys’ Track Qualify Nine Events to State Meet

DOWN THE HOME STRETCH – Senior Chase Mullenix strides down the straightaway at the co-ed home track meet. Mullenix qualified in several events for the state meet.

On the boys’ track team, nine different events qualified for the state meet with two runners earning spots in the open 200m, 400m, and 800m. The Trojans ran at the co-ed state qualifying meet held in Carroll on Friday, May 10.

Junior Tyler Moen and senior Zade Niklasen made it in the open 200m dash and 400m dash. Senior Chase Mullenix and sophomore Craig Alan Becker earned the one and two spots respectively in the 800m run. Becker also qualified in the 1600m run, and is now ranked number one in 3A running a 4:31. Senior Jalen Petersen is going to state in the 3200m.

The 4x400m relay is ranked first with Niklasen, Colin Mullenix, Moen, and Ch. Mullenix. The 4x800m relay, which includes Becker, junior Bradley Dennis, senior Nathan Behrends, and Ch. Mullenix will be going to state. Co. Mullenix, freshman Gannon O’Hara, Becker, and Ch. Mullenix will be going to the blue oval in the distance medley relay. The sprint medley relay, consisting of junior Spencer Ray, O’Hara, Co. Mullenix, and sophomore Cael Pulido is also going to state. The state meet will be held May 16 through 18.
