Girls’ Golf Defeats Glenwood

Girls’ golf defeated Glenwood at their first home meet of the season.

The girls’ golf team had their first home meet on Tuesday, April 9 against Glenwood. They beat Glenwood with a score of 180, while Glenwood had 204.

Seniors Alyssa Ginther and Baylee Newell both shot 41, with sophomore Anna Wieser close behind with 48. Senior Hannah Alff shot 50, sophomore Lauren Nicholas shot 52, and junior Belle Wickman shot 61. The JV players were freshman Reagan Leonard and senior Halsey Bailey, who shot 72 and 75 respectively.

Alff, Nicholas, and Wickman have been lowering their scores each meet which is “important to the success of our team,” said head coach Kathy Hobson, “Baylee [Newell] started out with a long putt for a birdie.” This was her first of the season.

The girls’ next meet is Monday, April 15 against West Des Moines Valley at the Willow Creek Golf Course.
