Wrestling began on Monday, Nov. 12. The team looks to have another successful season, with the usual goal of having team members earn a spot in the State tournament.

The Trojans will be returning several wrestlers and seven from the varsity lineup. Senior Chase McLaren, who placed 7th at last year’s State tournament wrestling at 132, will be back in action with the wrestling squad. He recently committed to Grand View University to continue his academic and wrestling career. Senior Connor Pellett, another State qualifier weighing 160, returns to the lineup as well. Also returning is senior Kenny Jimerson (170), juniors Aybren Moore (113) and Cale Roller (182) and sophomores Joe Weaver (106) and Steele McLaren (120).

Last year’s team had four State qualifiers: 2018 graduates Kole Hansen (126) and John McConkey (285) and seniors Pellett and McLaren. McLaren placed 7th, Hansen placed 5th, and McConkey went home as the 2A State champion.

A new addition to the team, senior Chase Mullenix, will be dualing with basketball.

Wrestle-offs will be held on Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. with their first dual tournament on Thursday, Nov. 29 in Audubon.
