NEWS BRIEF -- Deter Motors Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness

Since 1985, October has been known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Renae Cappel at Deter Motors has come up with a plan to raise money for breast cancer research. Cappel has organized a fundraiser happening Friday Oct. 19 in the parking lot outside the Trojan Bowl before the game.

There will be a special car to take pictures with and a white board to write anything “inspirational” or anyone’s name that has been affected by breast cancer. Deters will post all the pictures on Twitter and for every picture captioned #IDriveFor, Chevrolet will donate $5 to breast cancer research.

Cappel said “I decided to put this together because Rod, my boss, said I need to do something with breast cancer and since the game is pink out, I thought it would be perfect way to raise money.”

Throughout the game other volunteers will be handing out shirts, balloons, and mini footballs. During halftime there will be special games such as relay races and hurdle challenges. There will be four teams and the winning team will get a cup that says “Tackle Cancer.”
