The Atlantic volleyball team looked to improve their record as they headed to their first quad of the season on Tuesday. The Trojans were set to play CAM, East Union, and AC/GC.

The night started off with the Atlantic girls taking on the CAM Cougars in a rematch from Saturday’s tournament at AHSTW. Looking to avenge the weekend loss, the Trojans had 15 kills in the two set match. Though the team lost in straight sets–21-17, 21-13–they improved many aspects of their game since Saturday’s showdown. The girls had six blocks, 15 assists, and 40 digs, which all were greater numbers from those notched in the match on Saturday.

After the defeat from the Cougars, the girls faced the East Union Eagles. The two squads both had fallen to the Cougars in straight sets. After dropping the first set 18-21, the Trojans dug in and won the next two sets by five points apiece to snag the win. The volleyball girls had 25 kills during the match, the most the team has had in a single match so far this season.

The final matchup of the night was Atlantic versus AC/GC. Atlantic was a victim of some of AC/GC’s best hitters, and dropped the first set 21-5. The Trojans rallied to compete with their opponent in the second set, but failed to push the match to three sets. The final score of the second set was 21-18.

At the end of the night, the Trojans tallied 48 kills, 18 blocks, and 98 digs. Sophomore Alyssa Derby led the team in kills with 19. Senior Taylor Hansen led the team in blocks with six. Derby said the team has been working very hard in practice in order to improve their game and better their results.
