Getting to Know the Class of 2018: Rebekah Hallman

Dylan Litty

Rebekah Hallman has been very active in “all things band, all in the name of ‘Professor O.’” Band teacher Jarrod O’Donnell has had a big impact on her life, helping her to grow and mature as a person. “He would push me and believe in me even when I didn’t believe in myself,” Hallman said, “His friendship is something I will always cherish.” Making it to All-State for band two years is a success Hallman is proud of and she said many people don’t realize the amount of work it takes.

In addition to her band activities, Hallman has served on Choir Council and as dance captain for show choir. She has also been involved in the speech program, including appearances at the IHSSA All-State Festival. She has played lead roles in the fall plays and spring musicals and is a member of the National Forensics League and National Honor Society. In her free time, Hallman likes to write short stories and poetry, referring to herself as a “bookworm.” She also likes to meditate.

Hallman credits her mother for being such a phenomenal role model. “She always reminds me to look for the silver lining in everything.”
