Last night, the Atlantic boys track team captured its first Hawkeye 10 conference title since 2009, edging out Lewis Central in the final race of the night. They were aided by taking home gold in eight events and silver in four.

The Trojans racked up a massive 152.5 points. Here are the winning events:

Chase Mullenix: 800m (2:00.49)

Bradley Dennis: 1600m (4:44.02)

Jalen Petersen: 3200m (10:26.05)

Gratt Reed: 110m hurdles (14.66), 400m hurdles(54.64)

4x400m relay (3:27.78): Craig Alan Becker, Dillon Sonntag, Zeke Whetstone and Mullenix

4x800m relay (8:19.93): Whetstone, Becker, Nathan Behrends and Mullenix

Distance Medley (3:43.90): Jayden Barnwell, Sam Granner, Sonntag and Jaxson Eden

The girls also turned in a respectable night finishing in 5th place.  Taylor McCreedy won the 3000m in 11:42.94.

Both teams are back in action Thursday at the district track meet here in Atlantic.  The girls are looking to qualify multiple events after sending none to state last year.  Coach Alan Jenkins and the boys are looking to push through as many events to state in the hopes of making a run at a team trophy next weekend in Des Moines.
