Getting to Know the Class of 2018: Charity Williams
Senior Spotlight featuring Charity Williams
May 9, 2018
Charity Williams comes from a big family of 12 siblings including Amanda, Aaron, Gus, Victoria, Pene, Quinton, Jody, Preston, Eli and Jack. When she was younger, Williams wanted to be a writer. She loved to write what was on her mind or what she was feeling on that particular day.
Williams had many high school memories but her favorite was with Riley Seufert and Cora Zikuda during sophomore year of track. Williams said, “One time during practice, I was practicing long jump and Cora was measuring. When I would jump off the board, Cora would say it’s good or bad, and one time Cora said ‘duck’ and then I face planted because I was laughing so hard,” Williams said.
A moment she is most proud of is making it to State in the 100-meter dash during the 2016 season. However, a week before the meet Williams broke her ankle during softball practice while rounding a base. She was very upset she wasn’t going to be able to compete at the highest level of track.
On a relaxing day off, Williams usually works out, watches Netflix or reads. Her favorite Netflix series is “Atypical” and she enjoys reading the Harry Potter books. “It’s an amazing series,” Williams said.
Getting adopted was an important moment in her life. Moving in with a new family had a big impact on her, and her dad has had a positive influence by teaching her a lot. “There’s more to life than going through the motions,” Williams said. After high school, she wants to join the army because “it’s just a feeling I have.” Williams will be the first in her large family to do this.
