After graduation, Trevor Wendt plans to go to the University of Nebraska at Omaha to study secondary education. Wendt has wanted to be a teacher for a large portion of his life and said, “It just feels right.” When he was younger, Wendt never would’ve guessed teaching would be in his future plans; he was thinking more along the lines of an astronaut or a politician. Since then, his plans have obviously changed.

Wendt looks up to his dad because he is very hard-working and “never cheats himself out.” His dad always tells him, “If you’re going to do it, do it right,” and this is something Wendt will remember throughout his life.

In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his friends at 1301 Locust St. or playing basketball at “the blue court.” His favorite place to relax is the hot tub at Jim Amdor’s house. One of Wendt’s “fondest” memories with his friends was videotaping fellow senior Brady Dickerson riding his bike into a creek when they were in sixth grade. After recording the video, Wendt made a remix to the song “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani. His interest in technology helped him create this remix video as well as other projects here and there.

Wendt participated in soccer his freshman year, golf his sophomore year and football his junior and senior years. His favorite high school memory was winning the Homecoming football game in overtime against Creston in 2017 during his senior year: the first Homecoming win in five years. Wendt has also played a large role in the AHS journalism department. He has used his technological abilities to help create and produce the weekly newscast, Eye of the Needle.
