Riding dirt bikes and competing in racing events are two of Norman Welter’s favorite hobbies. “I really like to ride and race them,” Welter said. He has finished first in an event before and looks to get more wins in the near future. Welter is also an outdoorsman and likes to hunt and fish with his friends. His favorite place to vacation is Florida because “the weather is just really nice and I also really like the beaches.”

Welter’s plans after high school are to attend Iowa State University to study engineering. ISU has an excellent engineering department and is one of the best in the country. “I am going into engineering because it really interests me and I feel like I can do a good job on the subject,” Welter said.

Childhood was “full of good memories” for Welter, and he wanted to be a pilot when he grew up. He really looked up to his dad when he was young and said, “He has taught me very valuable life lessons and has helped me through a lot.”
