Getting to Know the Class of 2018: Brady Dickerson
Senior Spotlight featuring Brady Dickerson
May 7, 2018
Brady Dickerson has been an avid outdoorsman for the majority of his life. When he was younger, he would spend a lot of his time outside examining bugs. He liked to keep caterpillars as pets and raise them until they turned into butterflies. He recalls trading rocks with his neighbors, keeping his own vast collection safe under his bed.
Unlike his collection of rocks, Dickerson still has a large collection of football cards. He began playing football in fourth grade as a part of the Atlantic Steelers junior team and has continued to play the sport since. One of his favorite school memories is the middle school football team’s victory against Harlan in eighth grade. While in high school, Dickerson lettered during his sophomore and junior years and also made the varsity team during his junior year.
Dickerson spends a lot of his free time fishing. He has fished since he was taught by his father, one of the many people he looks up to, at the age of five. He typically goes with friends so he has someone to talk to. Dickerson is very interested in fishing and “the excitement of catching a big fish” that comes along with it, visiting ponds and lakes all over Atlantic.
At the beginning of his senior year, Dickerson was accepted into South Dakota State University. Upon being accepted, he was very happy as he knew that he would be given the opportunity to strive towards his goals. This will give him the option “to have a better education to create a profession,” and he is very excited. While at SDSU, Dickerson plans to major in fisheries biology, which is the study of fish and fish habitats.
