As a junior, Haley Engler moved to Atlantic from West Burlington, Iowa. When she found out she was moving, Engler was opposed to it. However, looking back on it now she thinks it was “ a good move.” Engler has four siblings: Olivia in ninth grade, Drew in eighth, and Thomas and Gabriella in second. She also has a dog named Floyd. Her parents Rob and Teres support her in everything she is involved with at AHS.

While in Atlantic, Engler has made “many great memories.” For example, during her junior year, Engler enjoyed watching State basketball and State duals for wrestling. She was involved in cross country, basketball and track. At first, Engler only ran cross country to get in shape for basketball but now she loves it. She played as a guard in basketball and runs “anything over an 800 for track.”

Engler’s favorite and most successful moment was at her previous school when her 4×800 relay got second at their conference meet. Her track coach at that school had a major impact in her life, and according to Engler he was “very helpful as a coach and a teacher.” She said he encouraged her more than any other teacher she had. Another success Engler is proud of is competing and participating in cross country every year since seventh grade. “I’m not sure what I will do without so many practices,” Engler said. She was also involved in softball, playing left field, until sophomore year.

Engler enjoys anything that involves hanging out with friends and catching up with old ones. When she was little, she had dreams of becoming a doctor of any kind or a physical therapist. However, Engler took a different route and chose to major in business because she enjoys it. She plans to attend Wayne State College and will carry her positive attitude throughout her college education.
