Senior Spotlight featuring Emily Schreiner
April 24, 2018
Getting accepted into college is what every senior dreams of, and Emily Schreiner said it will always be a big moment for her because it is what allows her to move on in life. Her plans are to attend a university to study pre-med. “I really like to help people and to make them feel better,” Schreiner said. When she was younger, Schreiner said she wanted to be an astronaut or a teacher because “I really liked the idea of space and being in charge of people.”
Schreiner’s parents are Dan and DeeAnn, and she said her mom has had a huge impact on her because she has been influential with a majority of her life. Schreiner also has a brother, Mark, and a sister, Sarah, who have both graduated from Iowa State University. Her brother has multiple businesses, including Schreiner iPhone Repair and a power washing business. Her sister works for a screen printing company out of Des Moines and works with major businesses.
During high school, Schreiner has participated in track her freshman and sophomore year and journalism with the “fabulous” Allison Berryhill.
Since she was six years old, Schreiner has been dancing. She currently dances at Dance Atlantic and has been able to cheer at halftime for the Chiefs’ Cheerleaders through the studio. Schreiner has attended four out of the five years Dance Atlantic has participated with this and says her last year was most memorable because “it was my last year ever.” The performance was dedicated to all people who have survived cancer in their life. “Being on the field with all the cancer survivors and cheerleaders was a really cool experience,” Schreiner said.
