Getting to Know the Class of 2018: Jaxson Eden
Senior Spotlight featuring Jaxson Eden
April 19, 2018
Best known for his presence as an athlete, Jaxson Eden has been involved in football, basketball, track and baseball during his years at AHS. Eden said he gets his love of sports from his father. “He raised me to love sports just like he did, and that is why I have a big interest in those activities.”
In football, Eden played as the quarterback on offense and the strong safety on defense. As quarterback, Eden called the plays and handled the snap. He would also hand the ball to either a running back or receiver. On defense, there are two kinds of safety positions: the strong safety and the free safety. Eden was the strong safety, meaning he is strong and fast.
Eden was one of the seven seniors that played on the boys’ basketball team this year, suiting as a guard for the last time. Throughout the years, Eden has enjoyed every game played with his team but one of his most memorable moments was during his junior year “winning in substate basketball.” Although Atlantic lost in the first round against Waverly-Shell Rock, Eden said it was a memory he will never forget.
Track has been a large part of Eden’s athletic career. He runs in many relays and individual events but he “enjoys running the 800.” Eden said placing at State track has impacted his life because colleges have offered him full-ride athletic scholarships.
During the summer Eden also participates in baseball, playing center field. He has been part of the Atlantic baseball team his whole high school career.
Eden plans to attend Simpson College to major in finance and continue his football career, “possibly track as well.” Eden said he found Mrs. Hawkins’ finance classes “very interesting,” which helped him make a decision for his major.
Throughout his high school career, Eden has made many great memories and he will have many more ahead of him.
