Trojan Girls Drop One to Kuemper
January 17, 2018
On Tuesday, Jan. 16 the Atlantic girls basketball team traveled to Carroll to take on the Kuemper Catholic Knights. The Trojans were 1-12 heading into the game hoping they could get their second win against the 7-5 Knights.
Things started off slow for the girls in the first half, scoring only two points in the first and nine in the second. The Knights went into the half with a 25-9 lead.
In the second half, the Trojans came out and scored 13 points in the third and 10 in the fourth but the Kuemper offense was just too much for the Trojans to handle. The girls fell 65 to 34 and their record also fell to 1-13.
Sophomore Baylee Newell led the team in scoring with 15 points, nine of those points coming from three-pointers. Freshman Haley Rasmussen was the next leading scorer with 6 points.
The girls will play the Clarinda Cardinals on Friday, Jan. 19 and it is also senior night.
