The Trojan Cross Country Invitational was held last Thursday. A total of 16 boys’ teams and 18 girls’ teams were in attendance.

The meet was held at Atlantic High School instead of the Country Club due to rain. Conditions were muddy, with coaches and runners sliding down the hill after the race. Before the fun the combined 34 teams competed on the last-minute designed course. “I think we ran really well at the meet, especially with the wet conditions and the course being a little bit sloppy. I thought people had good times. They actually had a lot of fun and I thought as a team we did very, very well,” head coach Dan Vargason said.

The Trojan girls placed fourth with a total of 103 points. The top girl finisher was freshman Taylor McCreedy ending in the third spot. Karsyn Rush was the next Trojan runner to finish eighteenth.

The boys came out with a seventh place finish. Jalen Petersen placed tenth with the highest finish for the boys. Evan Brummer was the next Trojan runner to cross the finish line with a time of 19:00.23.

The Trojans’ next meet is this Saturday against Missouri Valley at Logan-Mo. Valley Country Club. The state qualifying meet will also be held in Atlantic on Oct. 19.
