Senior spotlight featuring Maryam Ruiz.
May 23, 2017
Maryam Ruiz participated in both soccer and choir her freshman year. Her favorite activities to participate in included volunteering, blood drive, special olympics, and the ski trip. “There is a lot of opportunities, and they’re really good.”
Mr. Williams at the CEOC has been the most influential person throughout her high school career and is her role model because he helps people reach their full potential.
Ruiz is proud of the fact that she “made it into AP art.” Her favorite memories include the pep rallies that occur throughout the year.
After graduating, she plans to go to Iowa Western and get a degree in human services or psychology. In ten years, she hopes to be a therapist, settle down in a house, and have a family.
Sundays in the Ruiz family include going to dinner, then afterwards driving around and “listening to Sunday slow jams on the radio.” She is also very proud of getter her first car: a 1997 Crown Victoria. If Ruiz won a million dollars, she would “give half to charity, and then buy a house, art supplies, makeup and food.”
