Recap of Trojan Girls’ Tennis Over the Weekend

Last Friday, the girls’ tennis team traveled to Glenwood to face off against the Rams. The team lost to the Rams 0-9.

In singles, number one Jena Brosam played Ellie Osterloh, and lost 0-8. Number two Heather Freund played Brooklyn Taylor, and lost 0-8. Number three Carly Westphalen played Ruby Crow, and lost 0-8. Number four Emma Templeton lost 2-8 to Brielle Smith. Number five Ashley Freund lost to Erin Stanley 0-8, and Hana Holtz lost 2-8 to Sierra Stouder.

In doubles the number one duo of Brosam and Templeton lost 2-8, Westphalen and A. Freund lost 2-8, and H. Freund and Holtz lost 0-8.

On Saturday, the girls’ team hosted their annual varsity Trojan Invitational Tournament. All players from each team played up to four times throughout the day. In the end, the top four finishers medaled.

Playing number one singles all day, senior Jena Brosam finished out the day in fourth place defeating Clarinda 9-7. Heather Freund played number two singles, and also placed fourth after defeating Harlan 8-0.

In number one doubles, Carly Westphalen and Chloe Davis placed fifth, and the number two doubles team of Ashley Freund and Hana Holtz also placed fifth.

The team’s’ next meet is today, April 24, against Harlan.
