The Atlantic boys’ golf went to the Shenandoah invitational  on Tuesday where they place first out of 13 teams. Glenwood came in second, 15 strokes behind.

Jake Olsen was medalist with an even par of 70. Ben Renaud was fifth with a 73.

Coach Ed Den Beste said it was the best weather they’d golfed in all year. “I think it helped that we played the ball up.  There were some tough lies out there,” he said.

The team score was 292, which according to Den Beste, is the best score he has had since he’s been coaching the Trojans. “It was great to a score below 300.  That was our goal and we were 8 shots better.  Even though we had a great score, I think we had a few putts that should have fallen and shot even better.  However, we also had some great recovery shots and won’t always go our way.

The next meet is Thursday, April 13, at Fox Run in Council Bluffs.
