Boys’ and Girls’ Tennis Takes on the Panthers

Yesterday, April 6, the boys’ and girls’ tennis teams played the Creston Panthers. The boys played at home, and swept the Panthers 9-0. The girls were on the road, and fell 1-8.

In singles, number one Grant Podhajsky won 10-2, number two Cooper McDermott won 10-7, number three Kaleb Flory won 10-5, number four Luke Hohenberger won 10-2, number five Caleb Williams won 10-3, and number six Nile Petersen won 10-0.

In doubles, the number one team of Podhajsky and McDermott won 10-6, playing at number two Flory and Williams won 10-6, and Hohenberger and Petersen won 10-0 at number three.

The boys’ JV team also swept Creston by winning each match that was played.

In singles on the girls’ side, number one Heather Freund lost 3-8, number two Carly Westphalen lost 5-8, number three Emma Templeton lost 5-8, number four Ashley Freund lost 3-8, number five Hana Holtz lost 5-8, and number six Alexis Boes lost 4-8.

In doubles, playing number one H. Freund and Westphalen lost 2-8, number two Templeton and A. Freund pulled out the first victory of the season winning 8-7, and the number three team of Holtz and Boes lost 0-8.

The boys’ next meet is Tuesday, April 11 against Glenwood at home. The girls’ next meet is April 18 against Denison at home.
