On Saturday, March 11, 13 students will go to Johnston, IA with 18 events to represent Atlantic at the IHSSA State Individual speech. Speech coach Alex Bales said, “I would like to see at least half of our events getting a one.”

Returning to state for the second time in “After Dinner” and “Original Oratory” is sophomore Sarah Schorle. “Of course I would love to receive straight ones in both events and All State would be the ultimate goal,” Schorle said about her hopes for this weekend. “I’d like to see myself reach the full potential in my pieces and perform them to the best of my ability.”
Schorle said she is looking forward to watching other people perform this weekend. “Unlike large group, I never really see very many other people perform and it can be super refreshing to see a piece that I’ve never seen before and maybe even learn from their performance.“

Good luck to all competing this weekend!
