Last weekend, the wrestling team took home their first Hawkeye Ten Championship since 1980. The team finished with three champions, 13 placed in the top six and 235 total points.
Coach Tim Duff was pleased with the meet saying it was a good victory for the boys, and that it is “something to be proud of.” This was the first time in 37 years and the first time in school history that the Trojan wrestlers have won the Hawkeye Ten title, and gone undefeated doing so.
The Trojans had 10 wrestlers in the semi finals, Duff said that it was a “good start.” Then the Trojans put seven out of 10 wrestlers into the finals. By the end of the meet, 13 wrestlers placed in the top six.
Duff’s goal for the team is to win a team trophy at the Traditional State Tournament and to place top 3 as a team. “That’s still our focus that we are all working towards.”
