Last Friday, Jan. 20, the Trojan boys’ and girls’ teams traveled to Clarinda to take on the Cardinals.

The Trojans took the lead early in the game, and never looked back.

By the end of the first the Trojans had the lead 18-5.

In the second Atlantic was ahead halfway through the quarter 29-10.

Atlantic gained possession of the ball, and senior Garrett Franken had a last second shot progressing the lead to 40-13 at the half.

Franken had 23 points in the first half.

Ambition to win out of the locker room was high from both teams. Franken stole the ball early on in the third for a dunk, and an additional two points.

By the end of the third, the varsity team was taken out and replaced by the JV team with a lead of 56-23.

The Trojans won the game 69-29, advancing their record to 9-4.

Head coach Alan Jenkins said, “I thought we were aggressive on the boards and created a faster tempo than what Clarinda wanted to play. I feel like we are a confident team at 9-4.  We realize we have played a tough schedule and we will be ready for a tournament run.”

The Trojans have back to back games this week as they travel to Abraham Lincoln on Thursday to take on Elmwood Murdock, and then stay at home on Friday to play the Red Oak Tigers for the second time this season.
