After returning back to school from two straight snow days due to a recent ice storm, the Atlantic boys basketball team have been preparing all week for an upcoming matchup against the Cardinals.

Friday night the Trojans will pack their bags and hit the road and travel to Clarinda. The Cardinals are 2-8 and currently sit at second to last in the Hawkeye Ten Conference, meanwhile Atlantic stands third overall.

Atlantic dropped their fourth game of its last six last Friday night at home against Lewis Central. Lewis Central is second in the Hawkeye Ten, but L.C. is Class 4A.

Earlier this season the Trojans dropped three straight games. Losing two right before the holiday break and one upon the first game back from break.

Clarinda is coming fresh off of a win at home versus Red Oak winning 66-44. Clarinda also earned their only other win this season on the fifth of this month beating Essex 73-50.

Atlantic senior Garrett Franken leads the Hawkeye Ten and Class 3A in scoring, averaging 24.7 points per game. Franken has 296 points scored this season leading all conference scorers. Junior Austin Alexander sits at second place in the conference with 50 assists.
