Last night the boy’s swim team won their first home meet of the season last night defeating Abraham Lincoln/Thomas Jefferson. The Trojans dominated the Lynx/ Jackets 92-68 with eight first place finishes and three top two finishes.

Senior Damon Miller was battling sickness last night and still managed to get second in both the 50 and 100 freestyle. Coach Dean Junker said, “I wasn’t concerned, he can handle it mentally” Miller is the one and only Trojan to participate at the State Swim Meet on the team.

Among the eight first place finishes some of the wins came from Junior Cody McCreedy, Junior Jacob Redler,  Junior Nik Landhuis (from Clarinda), and Senior Damon Miller in the 400 free relay. The 200 medley relay finished first as well, this included Nik Landhuis, Blake Ewoldt, Purcell Malachi, and Eric Wieser.

Junker said the meet was run “pretty efficiently” last night as it only lasted an hour and a half. He also said the boys have a lot to improve upon saying  “We didn’t swim our best, they were a little lax, but it’s always nice to win at home.” The next meet for the boys will be on Saturday as they travel to an invitational in Fort Dodge.
