The JV girls basketball team has come out of hibernation after their winter break winning two out of their last three games.  They have beaten Carroll, St. Albert, Shenandoah, and Glenwood.  The girls are showing great improvement and are striving for more wins according to JV Coach Emma Walker.

The starters on the team are Karsyn Rush, Cheyenne Elliott, McKenzie Watters, Riley Seufert, and Heidi Williams.  Karsyn Rush said, “We have worked really hard to improve our defense by being more aggressive against the varsity team in practice.”  Cheyenne Elliott thought they are working hard towards their defense and working well together. Elliott thinks that the team needs to get better ball movement and open looks on offense to score more points. The starters are trying to master two three trap defense and develop a “true love for the game of basketball” according to Walker.

The JV team has many goals they want to attain before the season is over.  They want to win two more games to have a five game win total.  Throughout the season they have had a “really fun time”  the most memorable moment was when Karsyn Rush made a half-court shoot in the St. Albert game.  Rush said, “it was awesome and so cool.”  Elliott was so happy for her, especially since they went on to win the game.

The JV team has had two girls quit Coach Walker said, “Reagan Pellet and Halsey Bailey have really stepped up.”  Pellet played really great defense in the game against Harlan and Bailey has been working really hard on her shooting. Coach Walker said Bailey is the most improved player on the team.  She has become more aggressive, a better defender, and has become a better defender.  Coach Walker also believes her coaching has brought a very positive energy female figure to the team.

Overall, the team has been doing well so far. The JV team has been working hard during practice to increase the number of wins during their season.  They are looking forward to their upcoming games and are hopeful for more wins.
