Last Friday, the boy’s basketball team took on the St. Albert Falcons at home. The freshmen team defeated the Falcons 48-38. The JV team lost to the Falcons, but the varsity team came out victorious.

In the first quarter the Trojans showed a slight struggle, trailing the Falcons 9-10.

In the second quarter the Trojans were able to steal the lead, and they didn’t look back. By the half, the Trojans were ahead 22-19.

After the third the freshmen team was ahead 36-32.

The final score of the game was 48-38.

Tyler Moen was the leading scorer of the night with 20 points. Moen has now been the leading scorer in both games the freshmen team has had.

Nile Peterson and Bradley Dennis followed behind Moen with 13 and 7 points.

Freshmen coach Brandon Krause said, “This was a pretty big victory, and sometimes you don’t win with points you win with great effort and learning to make good decisions down the stretch. One thing about this team I really like is the fight and the willingness to get better throughout the game. We just have to continue getting better everyday in practice and putting a good product on the basketball floor each time.”

Moen said, “I think we played well as a team, it was a great home opener for the season. I think it boosted our confidence for the rest of the season.”

The boys’ next game is tomorrow, Friday Dec. 9, away against Creston.
