November 11, 2016
The Atlantic FFA hosts a fruit sale for 3 weeks every year. They sell food like fruit, cookie dough, pre-made soups, candy, chocolates ,meat, cheese, pickled herring and dips. The total sales were $25,783, and the top seller was Katie York with a total exceeding $1,600. They reached their goal of $25,000, but hoped to sell $30,000 worth of products.
Atlantic FFA raised $2,000 more than last year and FFA Advisor Eric Miller said, “In the last four years we have consistently gone up $1,000 to $1,500 in sales.”
They mainly used the same company for the fruit sales with the exception of the pickled herring. They went back to a company they used a couple years ago for the pickled herring. “The company was tried and true,” said Miller.
There were 55 students who participated in the fruit sales from the middle school and high school. Here’s how Atlantic FFA compared to other schools: Griswold raised $40,000 and CAM raised $27,000. CAM and Griswold raised more money due to having a larger FFA chapter.
