Boys Finish 8th in Tennis H-10 Tournament

Doubles team of Podhajsky and McDermott finish third

Sophomore Grant Podhajsky plays the #1 varsity spot for the boy’s tennis team. Podhajsky and Cooper McDermott were 3rd overall in the conference tournament.

On Tuesday, May 10, the Atlantic boy’s tennis team traveled to Red Oak for the Hawkeye 10 conference tournament. The team finished 8th overall in the conference.

In #1 singles sophomore Kaleb Flory won his first match 10-6, lost his second match 0-10 to the #1 singles conference champ, won his next match 9-7, and lost his next two 0-8, and 2-8. Flory finished 8th in the conference.

In #1 doubles sophomores Grant Podhajsky and Cooper McDermott won their first two matches 10-0, 11-10, lost their third match 7-10, and won their last match 8-6. The doubles team finished 3rd overall in the conference.

In #2 singles senior William Weppler won his first match 10-6, lost his second match 0-10 to the #2 singles conference champ, and lost his third match 0-8.

In #2 doubles junior Caleb Williams and sophomore Luke Hohenberger lost their first match 8-10, won their next two matches 8-6, 8-1, and lost their last match 7-9. The doubles team finished 6th overall in the conference.
