Girls H-10 Meet in Clarinda

The Atlantic girl’s track team finished fourth overall at the Hawkeye 10 conference championship meet in Clarinda, after finishing eighth last year.
The girls scored 72 points, finishing 1 points in front of Harlan. Atlantic started out the night with sophomore Cheyenne Elliott, throwing 35ft in the shot put and placed 5th. Fellow sophomore Sidney Svoboda tossed out a throw of 33ft and took home 7th place. Also, Charity Williams jumped 14 feet and 6 inches, finishing fifth overall.
Tiffany Williams won the Hawkeye 10 3000 meter run with a time of 10:49.59. Kye Madsen from Lewis Central placed second behind Tiffany with a time of 11:11.15.
The shuttle hurdle team had a good night on the track placing 3rd and running a time of 1:13. That time was the best time ran this year for the squad of Tyzha Clark, Bailey Schildberg, Madelyn Kickland and Taylor Hansen.
The distance medley took home silver and they also ran their best time of the year. They ran a time of 4:28 with Williams running a personal best in the 800. She came in with a 2:26. Madelyn Williams ran her personal best in the 100 meter hurdles and placed 6th overall.
In the 200 meter dash, freshman Taylor Hansen placed 6th overall with a time of 28.04. Another freshman, Belicia Smith, ran a personal best in the 400 hurdles. She had a time of 1:15 and placed 8th overall.
In the 1500, Williams placed 2nd with a time of 5:02. Emily Saeugling also ran the 1500 and ran a personal best 5:34. To end the night the 4×400 team placed 4th and came in with a time of 4:21. The girls on that relay in order are, Hansen, Freund, Rush, Williams.
The next meet is Thursday, May 12, at Glenwood for districts.
