A new pen-pal club will kick off on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at AHS.  Two freshmen, Codi Russell and Madison Solberg, started a club called the Pen Den, which is another name for pen pals. They think starting this club will be fun and be a way to make new friends. The club will be starting off writing to students from Alamosa, Colorado, where journalism teacher Allison Berryhill’s daughter teaches math.

Russell and Solberg believe their writing skills will get better and their social skills will also improve through the club. The girls said they want kids to have more social time off of the internet while having conversations with different people.

Ped Den is open to all student of AHS. “Our goal was five and we have 10 so far, so that is an impact on us already,” Russell said.

The meetings will be held on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 a.m.. in room 408. The first meeting is Jan. 12. During the meetings they will first talk about who your pen pals are and eventually talk about the different conversations everyone is having and how things are going.

For more information, contact Russell, Solberg, or Berryhill in room 408.
